10 Lieder by Franz Schubert, adapted by Bernard Cavanna

Opéra de Nice (2023) - Opéra de Limoges (2018)

« Her name is... Do you know her? The messenger of a devoted heart. » - J. G. Seidl, Die Taubenpost.

ABOUT

This innovative program explores the theatricality of chamber music, by inviting the audience to a new form of Installation-Concert, combining music, theater and video. Placed inside an elegant translucent box, 1 soprano and 3 musicians perform 10 of the most famous Lieder by Franz Schubert (Gretchen at the spinning-wheel, Erlkoning, etc). These iconic pieces of Romantic chamber music are adapted by contemporary French composer Bernard Cavanna. The accordion gives to these undisputed masterpieces a deliberately modern twist. As the concert unfolds, videos are projected onto the box. The atmosphere is intimate, theatrical, profoundly poetic and meditative, presenting this selection of Schubert’s Lieder in the most unexpected way.
